Rotary Club of Central Launceston
The Rotary Club of Central Launceston meets every Monday for lunch at 1pm at Hotel Grand Chancellor
Dr Paul Hanson has been a member of Rotary Club of Central Launceston for 15 years including president in 2013-14. Paul’s his current areas of interest at Rotary are volunteering at the Rotary Readers mentoring and reading programs at Ravenswood Primary School. Paul enjoys the social side of Rotary too, as a keen bike rider and hiker. Last year he climbed Kilamanjaro whilst visting the Water Bores for Tanzania project our club participates in.Growing up in Smithton, Paul always had an interest in being a doctor. Overcoming literacy challenges as a child, Paul realised his dreams and was a rural GP in Scottsdale for 14 years and until recently a partner at Newstead medical partnership. Fun fact Paul has delivered around 300 babies!!Paul and wife Paula are a team, with 4 children, one of which has followed his footsteps and others pursuing other careers.Paul was recently recognised for his sustained contribution to medicine as 2023 RACGP Tasmania GP of the Year award. He continues to use his medical training to help others and volunteer capacities.

Peter Gutwein was an inspiring speaker at our recent club meeting extended to visitors and guests. Post-politics Peter has attracted a portfolio of interesting board and consulting leadership roles in the for-purpose and business/innovation sectors to make a positive impact in Tasmania. Peter’s talk was underpinned by some important messages on prioritising health and wellbeing. As a Rotarian himself, Peter is a supporter of the important #communityimpact of the work we do at Rotary Club of Central Launceston.
