Circus Quirkus aids St Giles Autism
The Circus is coming to town 4th July 2009 Princess Theatre
Funds raised from Circus Quirkus this year will be used to assist with development of St Giles Autism Programme.
The autism program is a long term and targeted program aimed at obtaining positive experiences for children with autism and their families. This is to be achieved through skill development, social and community participation on the basis of individual growth and development. The family benefits directly through respite, where they have a break from their continuous and demanding support role. For the child it means they are able to develop and challenge themselves, whilst still having fun as a child! This project has been developed on the basis of international autism research that confirms positive, interactive learning experiences enhances the growth and development of children with autism. The research also shows that parents are better able to maintain the family unit through the opportunity to have regular intervals of successful respite.
The club is extremely grateful for the Launceston Community's generousity in enabling the Circus show to be staged while at the same time raising funds for organisations such as St Giles.
Circus Quirkus is a great family show full of acrobatic action and laughs.
